  • Note:  If you have pictures that have been damaged, faded, worn, torn, or are just in bad shape. I have a few tricks to repair them digitally.  If you would like an enlargement or other requests, please ask. There is no charge for anything EVER.

    Beginner:

Q: I have a lot of old and new pictures in a shoebox that I would like to see posted.  What is the best way to do so?

A: You have a choice. The first choice is to box them up and ship them to me and I will scan the images for you and provide a CD-ROM of the images that will be mailed back to you along with all of your originals. The second choice is to take them to a Wal-mart, Kinko’s, Walgreens, etc., where there are kiosks located within the store that you can “scan” your pictures to a CD.  You will then mail me the CD-ROM and I will mail it back to you after they are posted online.  The mailing address is 5328 Fontaine Rd. Knoxville, TN 37920

Q: I have a digital camera and/or scanner so I can view my pictures on my computer.  May I e-mail you those?

A: YES! You may indeed.  To start, we need to determine exactly what you have to send.  The only restriction here is the “SIZE” of the picture(s) that you want to send.  Most e-mail providers (AOL, MSN, Mindspring, Earthlink, and even your broadband providers like comcast, AT&T, and Charter) have a size limit on your e-mail account. This is usually 2 megabytes. In order to determine the size of the image(s) you will need to go to the folder on your computer that you store your pictures and RIGHT click the image and select “Properties”.

A dialogue will appear, listing the Size of the image as seen BELOW.

The size of that particular image is 1.03 Megabytes. This is a little over half of your allowable e-mail size.  In this case I would e-mail them to me “One at a Time” to ensure that they make it. The image that I used as an example above is a large image.  That is OK, it has a better quality and we can do more with it like cropping out elements, enhancing the lighting, etc..

If you are still with me then you must be about ready. So open your e-mail program (AOL, Outlook, etc.) or just click HERE

    1. Type a subject in the Subject line.
    2. Click your “Attachment” button to add files to your e-mail as seen below.
    3. Navigate to your pictures folder and choose as many as you want making sure that you do not go over your 2 megabyte limit total for all pictures.
    4. Click your “Send” button and you are done!

You might have to repeat the above steps if the size is an issue.  After I get them, I will place them in the gallery section under your name for all of us to view.  Please contact me with any questions. 865.385.9848

    Computer Savvy:

Q: I have my old images scanned and my digital images ready to go.  How do you  want them?

A: I will always take them “as is” but if you want to speed things along, there are a few guidelines to follow...

    1. All web images need to be converted to 72 dpi. My Nikon takes digital pictures at 300 dpi and 2214 pixels wide.  While this is great for adjusting and cropping it is too much for a web browser. When I resize a 300 dpi image to 72 dpi it shrinks to 550 or so pixels wide. This will be the maximum size that you will see them online.
    2. Since the above step is downgrading your photos, I suggest that you copy the ones that you want to send me to a separate folder BEFORE you adjust the resolution.
    3. List any captions or comments to be included with the picture(s) in the body of your e-mail and include the “Filename.jpg” next to your caption so that I do not get them confused.

That is pretty much it!  e-mail as many as you can and as often.  If you prefer to send a CD-ROM, Address:5328 Fontaine Rd. Knoxville, TN 37920
